Admissions requirements

While attending Northern Lights College many students complete certificates or diplomas and then successfully transfer to universities across Canada to complete their degree.
Certificate/Diploma/Post Degree Diploma IELTS 6.0 (no band less than 5.5) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
Effective May 2020:
  • English is the language of instruction in all programs at NLC, therefore all NLC students must meet minimum English Language Proficiency requirements.
  • In University arts and sciences and related programs, it is understood that the minimum English Language Proficiency requirement is that required to graduate from a Canadian high school program conducted in English. This is defined in the English Language Requirement document.
You must also submit:
  • Official transcripts demonstrating graduation from a post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree program; or,
  • Official transcripts demonstrating certification from a Red Seal Trades program or equivalent program; or,
  • Two years of management or leadership work experience as demonstrated by a resume with two professional references; or,
  • Two current professional letters of reference written and dated within a year of application outlining the applicant’s suitability and readiness for the program
*Note that some University arts and sciences and related programs elective courses have specific pre-requisites. Meeting the entrance requirements for the program does not ensure course pre-requisites have been met for all available courses.
  • Fall Semester (September) - ongoing, limited spaces
  • Spring Semester (January) - ongoing, limited spaces
  • Summer Semester (April) - ongoing, limited spaces

The information below is provided as a guide to help guide prospective International students with planning their education. Actual costs may vary at the point of registration. Estimates do not include the program application fee of $100. All rates in Canadian dollars.
No scholarships are available for international students.
